Summer 2020 Wrap-Up (June to August 2020)

Over the summer, our team has continued to meet with community stakeholders as well as advance our proposed design.

When Toronto moved into Stages 2 and 3 of the Province’s Reopening Plan our team, including our community liaison point person, Marilyn McCrea, was able to meet with community stakeholders in person once again. What a welcome change that was!

In July and August 2020, while observing safety protocols including PPE and physical distancing, we went on 24 guided walks with different community stakeholders, including youth (ages 14 to 19) with their parent’s permission. Each session averaged about 2 hours in length and we discussed the opportunities and challenges the community stakeholders see in the neighbourhood and heard their thoughts on how our proposed development could bring positive benefits to Weston. We also had 35 telephone calls with community members and 20 guided vehicle trips through the neighbourhood with community members. A big thanks to all the community members who have given us their time to share their thoughts and ideas with our team!

Our team has continued to advance our proposed design over the summer and we are getting closer to being able to show you our proposal! Our aim is to circulate the plans for your review and comment later this year. After we receive and incorporate your feedback into the proposal, then we anticipate bringing the proposed design to City of Toronto Staff for discussion.

We look forward to continuing these conversations! You can always reach us at weston@castlepointnuma.com if you have any questions, comments, or would like to go on a community walk with us.
